The turquoise background is finely decorated with swirling patterns throughout. On the neck are two stylized mythical beast handles, cast in gilt bronze.



The vase is stamped on the underside with a four-character Qianlong-style mark (乾隆製).

About the Mark (Qianlong 製):


The base is impressed with a four-character Chinese mark that reads “Qianlong Zhi” (乾隆製), which translates to “Made in the Qianlong reign.” This refers to the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1736–1795) of the Qing Dynasty, one of China’s most celebrated imperial periods.

However, this vase is not from the Qianlong period.
