The battle of jodoigne (or the battle of the river gete), which was a clash that occurred on october 20, 1568, during the early stages of the eighty years' war. It features the royal habsburg army commanded by the duke of alba defeating the protestant rebel army led by william of orange. This defeat forced william of orange to abandon his plans of invading the habsburg netherlands. The print is attributed to the artist johann wilhelm baur and was published by franciscus corbelletti in rome, dated 1632.
