The Junkers Ju 52 (nicknamed Aunt Ju and Iron Annie) was a German transport aircraft manufactured from 1932 to 1945. It served both civilian and military purposes in the 1930s and 1940s. In civilian service, it flew with more than 12 airlines, including Swissair and Deutsche Luft Hansa, as an airliner and cargo transporter. In military service, it flew with the Luftwaffe as a troop transport and cargo aircraft, and briefly as a medium bomber. After the war, the Ju 52 continued to serve in both military and civilian air forces until the 1980s.
