The bulbous … Read more This large high quality studio ceramic art vase was created by the well-known German ceramist Gerhard Liebenthron (1925-2005). The bulbous vase with its remarkable rough surface finish in red-brown tones was created at his own workshop in Bremen, Northern Germany in 1974.

The style and design of this beautiful vessel is inspired by traditional rural folk art as well as ancient amphoras which influenced his work during the 1970s.

In his impressive pottery art Gerhard Liebenthron always experimented with various different compositions of ceramics, clay shards, structures and glazes. He participated in numerous international exhibitions since 1955.
