Antique 19th century Georgian exceptionally rare and spectacular pair of solid bronze-gilt mounted on ebonized marble Warwick vases/urns/wine coolers, of typical form on square bases, with pedestal stems and acanthus at base of bowl, the sides applied with classical heads and lions pelts, with two marvelous bifurcating handles modelled in the form of entwined fennel stalks accented with chased and embossed leaf decoration, an ovolo dart and beaded rim, each fitted with an Sheffield plate collar and liner.

The design is based on a famous ancient Roman marble vase with Bacchic ornament that was discovered in Rome in 1771. These vases feature stunning workmanship, gauge and elaborate gilt, probably made on commission.

PROVENANCE: Acquired from the private estate collection of an Atlanta based Bon Vivant with evidence of a stylish life, well lived and traveled.

OF THE PERIOD: Early 19th Century
MATERIALS: Solid Bronze, Iron, Marble
CONDITION: Very good condition with some color fading to the iron gilt due to age on both vases. Very minor defects to the bronze.
WEAR: Minor wear commensurate with age and use. Some noticeable imperfections noticeable inside vase and bowl liner attributed to previous use. See less
