A stunning sculpture in full Futurist style, depicting a cherub riding a dolphin, entirely handcrafted and modeled by the artist in majolica-glazed hard ceramic, finished with a metallic luster, with a wooden base and a metal plaque with a Latin inscription from Virgil. The work is easily attributed to Ricardo Gatti, who created similar sculptures finished with metallic luster, especially the cherub with a ruby metallic luster. In the last photo, a cherub riding a dolphin is very similar to ours, also made by Riccardo Gatti. The sculpture is most likely signed under the base, but since it was glued to the wooden base, it is not visible.
Useful information for appraising the item:
In the last photo, we've included a very similar sculpture listed back in 2009 at €600-700, a starting price that will undoubtedly rise during the auction. Furthermore, a 25-30% buyer's premium must be added to the final price. Furthermore, through some online research, we've found that sculptures by Riccardo Gatti or his workshop command very high prices, ranging from €900-€1,300 for a vase, to €15,000-€20,000 for a ceramic bust sculpture. This gives an idea of the importance of this manufacturer's ceramics.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:

A student of Domenico Baccarini and Virginio Minardi, his works have been featured in many important exhibitions and art competitions, and he has received numerous important awards throughout his career. He is best known for his Futurist-style works. We've added additional biographical information about the artist in the photos for those interested in learning more.
