An exceptional complete set of twenty-one large-format etchings by renowned Italian artist Bartolomeo Pinelli (1771–1835), celebrated for his dynamic depictions of classical and historical subjects.
Executed in 1827, this series—titled Roman Scenes—showcases episodes from ancient Roman life and mythology with Pinelli’s hallmark attention to narrative detail, expressive figures, and dramatic composition. Each plate is finely rendered in rich sepia tones, retaining strong impressions and excellent line quality.
Printed on laid paper with generous margins, each sheet measures approximately 17" H x 20" W. Edges remain untrimmed, showing period deckling. Light, even toning and occasional foxing consistent with age; overall, a well-preserved and cohesive collection.
