Published in 1857 by j.c. Loman jr. In amsterdam, the lithograph was drawn by p.w.m. Trap and appeared in the illustrated volume *ons vaderland en zijne bewoners; beschrijving van de steden, dorpen, waardoor zich in sommige streken de bewoners onderscheiden*, authored by a.j. Van der aa. The image captures a tranquil scene along the oosterdoksdijk, a location near the city’s expanding port district. A variety of urban features are depicted, including canal houses, sailing vessels, and small boats dotting the calm waters.
