This is an ornate majolica jug or vase. It has a rich relief pattern and detailed decoration.
This is a historical ceramic technique in which a tin-based white glaze is painted with colored glazes.
This technique was first developed in the Middle East to imitate Chinese porcelain.
The name majolica comes from the medieval Italian word "Majorca".
Italian majolica production began in the 15th century in centers such as Faenza, Deruta, and Urbino.
