This is an antique Persian Qajar pierced brass serving spoon, likely a sherbert spoon, from the Qajar period (1795-1925). While some Qajar sherbet spoons were made of carved wood, this one is made of brass and is known for it intricate pierced and relief decorations.
These ornate spoons were primarily used for serving and consuming sherbet, a popular cold beverage or dessert in Persian culture, especially among the elite.
Such spoons were not just functional utensils but also status symbols, often depicted in Iranian paintings of banquets and ceremonies from that era.
This unique Brass spoon measures 3.5" x 2" and is 10" high.
