He first learned … Read more Johann Georg Schütz (1755-1813) (attributed to) was a German Old Masters painter who specialized in landscape scenes. He first learned from his father, the landscape painter Christian Georg Schütz, then studied at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf and lived in Rome for a few years before settling in his hometown of Frankfurt. The painting depicts a sheep herder walking down a center path with his sheep and his dog, surrounded by trees, and a small cottage can be seen in the distance. Signed by the artist in the bottom right corner.
