Gagneau, a famous lighting manufacture, was established in Paris since 1800 and received Premier Medals at the Crystal Palace Exhibition in London in 1851 and at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1855, also was member of the jury for the Artistic Bronzes Class at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889. The firm provided all lighting for the new French Embassy in Vienna in 1908.

Originally it was an oil lamp, later converted to electricity.
Fabric cord, bayonet socket, bakelite switch and plug (had to be replaced).

Measures: diameter 5.9 in. / 15 cm; height (without bulb) 11 in. / 28 cm
The lamp still works, but the wiring has be undertaken by an electrician before you plug it in. less
