This chest is not only remarkable for its highly decorative paintwork, but also for its square shape and flat lid. This makes it ideal for use as a coffee table. The original paint dates from the late 18th century and has naturally worn away somewhat over the years. It was customary in the past to give bridal furniture like this to the couple at a wedding. These pieces were later placed in a state room on the farm, rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. 47cm high, 67cm wide, and 67cm deep. See less
