Quite striking, original early oil on canvas portrait painting of an extremely handsome young gentleman, framed in a period gilt frame. One might think that this is Patrick Dempsey’s Great Great Grandfather as the likeness is quite obvious.
Painting is dated on reverse with the sitting date of 1846 and the date of birth of subject, May 3, 1807. Painting is framed in a lovely, wonderfully patinated chunky gilt frame.
