Stationery found behind a drawer suggests (in German) it may have belonged to someone of nobility, like a count or prince, or to someone addressed as "Your Honor" or "Esquire", in Wien (Vienna), Austria.
1. Item Description
Type: Antique European breakfront bookcase or cabinet.
Material: Solid hardwood (type unknown), no veneer.
Construction Features:
- Crowned pediment with dentil molding.
- Projecting center section.
- One-piece.
- Fluted columns flanking center with classical details.
- Baluster gallery rail on upper sides.
- Full length shelf dividing top and bottom parts.
- Upper part has three sections of adjustable (by approx. 1.25") shelves...8 included, with side slat holders.
- Lower part includes four paneled cabinet doors and three drawers (All lockable, but no keys). One fixed shelf per section.
- Original brass or bronze hardware
- Rich, consistent patina
