Attributed to Connecticut River Valley area of Massachusetts, circa 1780’s
Possibly from the Greenfield or Deerfield area of Massachusetts.

A very nice inlaid chest of drawers. Line inlay on each drawer, shield shaped inlaid escutcheons, and fluted quarter columns.

Walnut case, with white pine secondary woods. The backboards are slide-dovetailed onto the case in a grove in the back. The drawer bottoms are 1 board. The construction is very typical New England. Connecticut or Massachusetts in particular. The use of walnut is interesting, as it would have been imported from the Southern Colonies or Pennsylvania.
Nice brass bail hardware, probably original to the case.


Size: 34 3/4” tall, 41” wide, 22 3/4” deep.

Condition: old repairs to the feet. The feet are original, however they have been reset. Typical scuffs/dings/wear associated with age/use. Slight finish bubbling up on the top, and a slight smokey odour on the interior of the case. See less
