Item description:
A splendid pair of hard-paste porcelain bottles, decorated in bas-relief with figures in traditional Portuguese dress, dating from around the mid-20th century. Made and signed on the base by the Portuguese manufacturer Real Vinicola. The porcelain used to make the pair is of excellent quality, hard, compact, and rich in kaolin. The patina of the two bottles is also good, especially under the base. The bas-relief subjects, entirely decorated by hand in traditional Portuguese folk costumes, are beautiful and extremely similar to Spanish or even Sardinian folklore.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
Real Vinicola is the Portuguese royal wine factory, so it is likely that local manufacturers were commissioned to produce similar bottles for the finest wines, to further enhance their value.
