Fabulous, extremely rare pair of refrigerated carafes in the finest opaline crystal, acid-etched. One has a double-twisted handle that wraps around the neck, and one has a single-twisted handle. Both have a compartment just below the handle for placing ice to chill the water or liquid inside, embellished with a bas-relief cord applied by hand while hot. The hand-scalloped mouth and fluted handles are also hand-crafted by twisting the glass stem into a spiral and then applying it while hot to the jugs. Made by the French manufacturer Baccarat in the Art Nouveau style around 1920. The patina covering both pieces is beautiful, perfectly consistent with our dating, especially on the mouth and the ice tray under the handle.
This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
