An original water color on paper painting titled "At the Tip of Two Canals" by Laurence Davis, British artist late … Read more An original water color on paper painting titled "At the Tip of Two Canals" by Laurence Davis, British artist late 19th century into the early 20th century, scene of a European city built at the junction of two canals, multiple stone buildings lie at the junction with other buildings to the right and left in the background, two arch bridges connect the city to the peninsula, two small boats at rest in the foreground, 7 1/4" x 10 1/4", signed Laurence Davis in the lower left corner front, this work was probably executed in the early years of the 20th century. CA number 3975, CA purchased summer of 2025 from a Scottish auction house.
The painting has been surface cleaned to remove dirt and dust. It is in superb condition.
The painting has been matted with White Museum matboard, a gold line, Museum Glass and museum backing, reframed in 5/8" Newcomb Macklin beaded antiqued white and gray Italian reproduction moulding..
Davis exhibited works at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists from 1899 to 1901. His address is listed as 5 Highbury Grove, London.
The work is in excellent condition, strong colors and beautiful architectural rendering of an historical city. See less
