Fabulous 1980 Frances Kornbluth original one-of-a-kind circular abstract mixed media collage painting on paper. Hand-signed by the artist in the lower right.
This abstract expressionist artwork is subtly inspired by the natural environment, particularly the landscapes and seascapes of Monhegan Island, Maine, where Kornbluth spent her summer time painting for 57 years.
The colors and forms in the painting evoke elements like water, light, and foliage, rendered through an abstract lens. The circular format symbolizes a sense of completeness, rhythm, or a specific view, perhaps akin to looking through a porthole or focusing on a particular natural element.
The form conveys emotion and experience rather than a direct representation of nature, emphasizing colors and forms over precise detail. It focuses on evoking the feeling or essence of a landscape through simplified forms, leaving room for viewer interpretation, creating a composition that evokes a sense of calm and serenity.
The painting features a harmonious blend of primarily cool colors with warm accents.
The dominant colors are various shades of purples and blues, including lavenders, light blues, and deeper indigo tones. These are interwoven with warmer hues like soft pinks, subtle yellows, and hints of red-orange or rust, providing vibrant touches and contrasts within the abstract composition. The overall effect is one of soft luminescence and a somewhat serene yet dynamic energy.
The painting is presented in a simple, light-toned maple wood frame with plexiglass, that complements the artwork without distracting from its vibrant colors.
This painting is a breathtaking piece of collectible art.
