This is a sturdy, fairly hefty solid brass shell dish in very good condition. It is an elongated scallop shell shape, made with a repousse method of manufacture that creates lovely detailed reliefs. The tray is designed so that the bottom of the dish does not "rock" even though it does not have feet; it lies stable on a flat surface. It has a warm, glowing, golden brass color.
This dish can be used for many different purposes: To hold soap (lots of room for multiple bars of soap!); to hold jewelry; as a trinket tray; for serving nuts, small hors d'oeuvres, sushi, petits fours, chocolate, or candy; or simply as home decor.
Made by Baldwin Brass from the 1960s through the 1980s.
This dish measures 9.5" long, 5.5" wide, and 1" tall.
