Larger swan: 33” H × 28” W × 10” D
Smaller swan: 24” H × 25” W × 10” D
Description:
A striking pair of large-scale life-size bronze swan sculptures attributed to the renowned Polich Tallix Fine Art Foundry, best known for producing museum-quality bronze works for iconic artists such as Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella, and Erté. The Oscar award trophies are currently cast by Polich Tallix Fine Art Foundry, located in New York's Hudson Valley. These graceful swans were reportedly commissioned in the 1970s for a Las Vegas casino or hotel lobby, evoking the grandeur and opulence of that era.
Crafted in bronze using the lost-wax casting method, both swans are sculpturally dynamic and display a rich patina with elegant detailing throughout. Though unsigned and lacking foundry marks, the pair comes from a trusted dealer with knowledge of their provenance, and they were part of Dick Polich’s collection, further supporting the attribution.
The two swans differ in scale and form, allowing for a compelling asymmetrical display. They are heavy, substantial works suited for indoor or outdoor installation in a lobby, garden, entryway, or collector’s space.
Each swan features three discreetly placed holes on the underside, allowing them to be securely anchored if desired, while still displaying beautifully as freestanding sculptures.
Each Swan weighs over 40 pounds.
Condition:
Both sculptures are in good vintage condition, consistent with age and use. The bronze shows natural patination with minor wear. Both swans have no damage and are structurally sound. They have been well cared for and retain a strong visual presence and detail.
Provenance Highlights:
From a collection of Dick Polich (1932–2022), founder of Polich Tallix Fine Art Foundry.
Commissioned for a Las Vegas Casino/hotel lobby in the 1970s, during a peak era of lavish, themed interiors.
Though unsigned, the workmanship is consistent with Polich Tallix’s elite casting standards.
