The painting is signed “Helen Stein” on the lower leg and marked again on the back of the canvas with the title. A hand-labeled tag on the stretcher also identifies the piece.

Artist Note: While little biographical information is available, Helen Stein (1896–1964) is believed to have lived and worked in Russia, New York, and Massachusetts. Her work displays strong influences of mid-century expressionism, figuration, and abstract modernism.

Condition:
Unframed. The painting is in good vintage condition, though the original thin frame is damaged at the top and should be replaced. No certificate of authenticity is included.
