It should be noted that ours is a small figurine but particularly beautiful and with an antique feel.

The expression and facial features of the child under that large wide-brimmed hat are delightful, and the bright colors of the porcelain are beautiful, especially the burgundy red of the jacket, rich in shades ranging from orange to very dark red. He appears to be a barefoot orphan trying to get by selling fruit.

The Unterweißbach Porzellanfabrik is a porcelain factory founded in 1882 by Herman Jost in Thuringia (Germany), home to other famous porcelain manufacturers such as Von Schierholz and Volkstedt. After initially producing mainly plates and tableware with traditional designs, the quality steadily improved until it produced some of the finest figurative pieces in the history of German porcelain. One of the most distinctive features of the works, in addition to their high plastic quality, was the unmistakable Dresden lace effect, also used for Meissen porcelain.
