This trio were made to decorate your table. This set of Goebel vintage birds are dated on the bottom of each with a maker’s marking initials of OV and the number 74. After careful research I discovered the birds were made in West Germany from the early 1930’s to the late eighties. The maker normally started numbers from 100 and so on. So I am assuming this set of birds were made in the later years, ie 1974, and OV was the artisan and they were made in West Germany. It should be noted Goebel collections were made with the collaboration of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. Hummels originated from the artwork of a Bavarian nun, which was discovered by porcelain shop owner Goebel, who created the now-famous figurines. I found this lovely set of birds in an antique store off the main road in a local shop in Boise, ID. See less
