First time we have this vintage print in our collection. It is a 1960 French advertisement for Christian Dior hosiery. It originally appeared in a French magazine. It is NOT a recent reproduction print. It is a strong black and white image, illustrated and signed by Rene Gruau with his iconic "g" marking. The creative friendship between Christian Dior and the illustrator Rene Gruau was a collaboration which celebrated a special spirit that continued for many years, even after Dior’s death in 1957. Gruau’s breathtaking use of bold imagery and strong graphic lines enhances the allure of Dior’s fashion creations. This image captures the essence of an icon as well as the spirit of a creative chic genius. As the cat embraces the beautiful stockings, the French phrase, "douceur d'une caresse..." becomes obvious. (translates to "softness of a caress"". It is perfect wall decor for a bathroom. And, it is perfect for "the cat lover." Measures 8.5 x 11.25 inches in size. Excellent clean condition.
