Chinese porcelain snow landscape bitong, a large, straight-sided, brush pot with a grisaille glazed body, accented with muted pastels, and a gray glazed interior and white glazed inset base. The interior wall curves gracefully down from the heavy lip, forming the thinner sides. The brush pot is decorated with snowy scenes of hermitages and huts, set within lakeside groves of snow-covered pines and bare deciduous trees, with soaring peaks in the background, fading into the distance in Chinese aerial perspective. An honorific in black caoshu script, with two red seal marks is glazed just below the lip. A red, four character, Xu Ren Chu Pin, artist mark is glazed to the inset base. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu stand is included. Circa Republic of China era.

Xu Ren Chu Pin: product of Xu Ren (He Xuren, (1882-1940) a Jingdezhen painter and a member of "The Eight Friends".
