9th Century Persian Qajar Silver, Ruby & Turquoise Hookah Part. This Hookah part originates from Persia (modern-day Iran) during the Qajar dynasty (1795-1925), a period known for its distinctive art and craftsmanship. These hookahs are often made of silver, brass, or copper, featuring intricate engravings, chasing, and inlay work with semi-precious stones like turquoise and ruby (or red glass beads). Enamel decoration is also common.
While primarily a functional item for smoking, antique Qajar hookahs like the one pictured are also valued as decorative pieces and examples of Islamic art and craftsmanship.
