Late 19th c Cabinet Plate, Z. S.& Co PUNCH Bavaria, Scottish HIghlands Homestead
A very fine antique porcelain German Cabinet Plate with vibrant colours of a Family Homestead in the Scottish HIghlands depicting the return of the Scotsman from his hunt showing his prized catch (a rabbit) to his wife and daughter both in their aprons. He proudly displays the hare wearing his tartan plaid green kilt alongside his hunting horse and hunting dogs looking on.
The homestead cottage is small with stone front, small window and brown wooden door. The scenery is magnificent from the rolling lavender hills and statuesque pine trees to the purple crepe myrtles abloom.
I believe this was produced as a high-quality transferware pattern with a magnificent gradiation of colours and depths from browns, yellows, greens and lavender around the slightly embossed band and scalloped gilded rim.
The backstamp is missing some of the print, however, I have provided what the actual Backstamp is being Z. & S. Punch Bavaria which is Zeh, Scherzer & Company which operated from 1880 to 1918.
There is a hanging wire on the rear for hanging on a wall, or looks great sitting in an easel (not included)
Size: 9.5" Diameter
Condition: Lovely antique condition, suffering from a small hairline only seen on the rear, a paint smudge on rear (not a chip). On the front there is a small white area, not sure if it is missing enamel, or if it's intentional, and with a fine tooth comb you can detect two miniiscule flea bites on the rim.
