This model was … Read more An exceptionally rare coffee table designed by Gio Ponti and manufactured by Domus Nova in the 1950s. This model was conceived as part of a furniture range developed for the grand reopening of the La Rinascente department store in Milan, following its reconstruction after WWII bombings—a historic commission that underscores Ponti’s pivotal role in postwar Italian design.

Executed in European walnut, the table features refined sculptural lines, Ponti’s signature architectural lightness, and a striking graphical inlaid lower shelf. The original glass top remains intact, exhibiting wear consistent with age. The table is documented in Gio Ponti. This is a fully original example—unrestored, untouched, and all the more compelling for it. A piece of Italian modernist history with integrity, provenance, and sculptural poise.
