Quarried in southern Belgium, Saint-Anne is a fine-grained fossil limestone revered for its elegant gray tone, delicate veining, and rich presence of ancient marine inclusions. This particular top features a beautifully preserved fossilized gastropod (snail shell), visible near the corner, adding a rare and tactile glimpse into the stone’s geological history. The bullnosed edge follows the serpentine contour of the case below, lending architectural balance and refinement.
The enfilade’s facade is composed of three paneled doors framed by shaped stiles and carved pilasters with Régence-style scrollwork and floral motifs. Two side drawers provide discreet upper storage, each secured with its original lock. A total of five working keys are included for the drawers and cabinet doors. The interior houses fixed shelving behind each panel.
Raised on cabriole legs with a shaped apron and traditional pegged joinery, the piece measures 107.75 inches wide by 21.75 inches deep and stands 41.25 inches high. Excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with a warm walnut patina and a remarkable fossil marble top.
