Attributable to the Austrian Schlaggenwald … Read more Beautiful sculpture, in glazed and enameled ceramic or majolica, decorated with an airbrush and glaze. Attributable to the Austrian Schlaggenwald factory in Bohemia, a style very similar to the Turn Teplitz pottery, Royal Dux, or Amphora. Marked under the base with a hand-engraved, cursive capital S, one of the first Schlaggenwald marks, as you can see in the last photo, which contains historical information about the factory and the marks used, taken from a manual on European porcelain and ceramic marks.

Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
As stated in this manual, this was a very important 19th-century factory. It employed many ceramists who had worked for Meissen, and was widely recognized as one of the most important porcelain manufacturers of the 19th century, having won numerous awards and exhibited. This piece has an attribution mark,
