A stunning Rococo oil and vinegar cruet, made of glazed ceramic and entirely hand-painted with a brush, featuring floral decorations and romantic scenes in the center of the oil and vinegar jugs, and two beautiful landscapes on the main sides of the jug holder. The set consists of two main pieces: the oil and vinegar jugs, both with lids, also entirely hand-molded and decorated, and a high-rimmed jug holder with a handle. The set dates to the second half of the 18th century, between 1750 and 1780. The last photos provide historical notes on the manufacture and some of the numerous trademarks used. The marks are listed in chronological order, starting with the first ones used in the 17th century, from Clerissy onward. Our mark is precisely the number 9, used, as noted in the marks' notes, in the mid-18th century, from 1750 to 1780.
