Rooted in introspection and emotional nuance, Xenia Gray’s figurative mixed media works capture the quiet tension between solitude and connection. Her paintings often depict the human form suspended in contemplative silence, inviting viewers into a space of stillness and shared vulnerability. Drawing from personal memory and collective feeling, Gray’s work explores the invisible forces that tether us to each other and to the self.

Born and raised in post-Soviet Siberia, Gray developed a heightened sensitivity to silence, absence, and the subtleties of human emotion. She began formal art training at the age of nine and later earned her BA and MA in Advertisement Design from Saint Petersburg State University of Technology and Design. After relocating to the United States in 2010, Gray’s artistic journey evolved into a deeper exploration of the psychological and metaphysical through figurative expression.
Gray’s work is created through an intuitive process, using oil, acrylic, and charcoal to layer ambiguity and presence. Embracing restraint and space, she builds compositions where the figure becomes a vessel for unspoken emotion. Each piece is a meditation—on memory, on stillness, and on the unseen dynamics of human experience.
