Monogrammed lower left, 'VSR' for Virginia Sevier Rogers (American, 1916-2015) and stamped, verso, with certification of authenticity.
Born in Fort Collins, Colorado., Virginia Sevier Rogers first studied with Hugh Breckenridge at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts (1934), subsequently earning her B.A from the University of North Carolina and an M.A. at UC Berkeley. A member Society of Western Artists and of Artists Equity, she was an active member of California's Carmel Art Association and taught art for many years on her farm in the Carmel Valley.
