A 1997 Museum of Modern Art reproduction Town and Country syrup pitcher, from an original design by Eva Zeisel (American, born Hungary, 1906-2011). Zeisel created this handheld pitcher in 1945 for Redwing Pottery. Very good undamaged condition, with a glossy speckled, rust brown glaze, measuring 5.75 in H x 4.25 in W (at rim) x 3.75 in D with printed EZ / 97 mark on base.
Eva Zeisel (American, born Hungary, 1906-2011) designed a syrup pitcher of glazed earthenware in 1945 for Redwing Pottery's "Town and Country" tableware line. This iconic design can now be found in the collections of the British Museum, Yale University Art Gallery, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Denver Art Museum. The jug has a distinctive asymmetrical swooping rim designed to fit securely in hand for use.
