Or maybe a little further north as a Texas Ranger or even one of Teddy’s Rough Riders? An air show stunt man and parttime crop duster in his biplane? The stuff of John Ford movies.
Volume 2; Our hero in uniform for The Great War, or did he join the French Foreign Legion? Downing the Kaiser’s ace (where all that stunt flying came in handy). There’s champagne. And in between, a brief respite at home with the folks in, say, Indiana? Positively Hemmingway-esque. Finally, Volume 3. Hollywood, the money flowing, glamorous women, more champagne, the stock market boom paving the way for that Indiana-made Duesenberg splurge before the tickertape goes into the garbage. And more strikes. So now it sounds more like the legend of macho 1930s-1940s Hollywood director Raoul Walsh. The enigmatic Hybert remains a man of mystery. See less
