French School (19th century). The Falconer. The so called "Cavaliers and Cardinals" paintings, both humorous and satirical, were very popular throughout Continental Europe in the late 19th century. This example is of a falconer in period costume with his dog at his side in front of a classical arched doorway. Not able to identify the artist. Graphite signature on the top of the back stretcher. Dimensions are of stretched art piece out of frame. Period frame with many losses and adds little value to piece.
