This hand-colored engraving is based on Raphael's "The Hours of the Day and the Night". Created in Paris, circa 1805 with a black background and red border. There are twelve in the original set. Each image is of a woman floating in the sky holding an item that refers to the hour of the day or night. The border below shows animals in different acts, such as the squirrel on a chariot pulled by a dove. These animals also reference the time of day or night.
The beautiful blonde lady in the colored draped garment represents the second hour of the day.
There is slight rubbing to the black ground due to age.
