a stunning majolica ceramic vase in the shape of a jar, entirely hand-shaped on a lathe and then gouged with a rag-like finish, meaning the surface of the vase resembles that of a cloth or rag. Finally, the flowers were hand-painted and applied to the vase. Finally, the entire vase was glazed with polychrome enamels and fired at high temperatures, which first fixed and then vitrified the glaze. Signed under the base by the manufacturer "ilsa" and bearing the catalog number "204," it can be attributed to ivos pacetti or nino strada, two of the manufacturer's most important artistic directors. Dating to the first half of the 20th century, 1900.
information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
the joint-stock company "i.l.s.a." was founded in 1922. From 1928, president perotti combined industrial production with an artistic division of antique and twentieth-century style ceramics, under the direction of ivos pacetti until 1932. Nino strada succeeded ivos pacetti as artistic director in 1933. In the following years, the factory grew in importance, also collaborating with numerous artists, including roberto crippa, lucio fontana, mario raimondi, emilio scanavino, agenore fabbri, mario rossello, and franco garelli. In the last photo, we've added historical information about the factory for those who want to learn more, including some of the brands used, including our own. This piece has an attribution mark,
