Item description:
Wonderful transparent blown glass vase with hand-applied blue and green glass ribs in relief, made by Archimede Seguso in Murano, Venice, in full Art Deco style, dating back to around the mid-20th century, 1900. The vase is signed "Archimede Seguso Murano" under the base with acid etching. Although the first five photos appear to be the same, they actually show the vase from five different angles to demonstrate that it is in perfect condition throughout. The acid-etched signature under the base, which reads "Archimede Seguso Murano" in full, is usually used for the artist's most important vases, making this an authentic and very significant piece. The patina under the base is good, especially in the hollow of the punch, which allows it to be dated to around the mid-20th century. A real gem for art lovers and collectors.
Useful information for evaluating the item:
From our internet research, we found that the four highest auction results achieved by Archimede Seguso range from over €41,000 to over €80,000, excluding 25-30% fees. We then found a vase very similar to ours, lot number 80, titled in English "Vase with Ribs (c.1949)" which means "vase with ribs," sold for €2,830 (€3,608 including auction fees) at the "Important Italian Glass" auction on December 15, 2022, at Bonhams in New York, USA. This is to give a general idea of the value of glassware made by Archimede Seguso and vases similar to ours. The vase mentioned is very similar to ours in terms of workmanship, except that the ribs are fewer in number and of a single color, greenish on a transparent base, while ours are more numerous and of two colors.

Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
Archimede Seguso (Murano, December 17, 1909 – Murano, September 6, 1999) was an Italian entrepreneur and master glassmaker. Considered "a living encyclopedia of glass" (as defined by Giuseppe Cappa in the book "Le Genie Verrier de L'Europe"), he was one of the most famous Venetian glassmakers, distinguishing himself above all in the working of heavy glass (known as massello), boasting numerous auction results and thousands of collectors.
