An abstract watercolor painting by the American artist Robert C. Ray (1926-2020). The abstract work depicts a crowing rooster in bright shades of red, blue, and green. Unsigned, the painting is displayed in a black frame and a cream mat.
Born in Elwood, Indiana, Ray attended the John Herron Art School in Indianapolis. After spending time abroad in Spain and Italy in 1953, he studied under Hans Hoffman in Provincetown, Massachusetts at Hoffman's School of Fine Art. Ray was also a writer and poet with several published books. In addition to being an artist, Ray also ran an interior decorating business in Indianapolis.
