The decorative character in the center of the dish appears to be a stylized version of the Chinese character shou, which symbolizes longevity and can be used to express wishes for a long, healthy life. The artisan’s mark is on the bottom of one of the legs.

This dish belonged to our grandmother, who kept it in a display cabinet – though we think it would make a great ring holder. We’re uncertain of its age, but believe she had it from at least the mid-1950s. This dish needs a new home where there is room for its iridescence to shine!
