Chinese porcelain Jiangnan scenery plaque, with a finely painted landscape in blue and white glazes of forested, rocky shores, a small waterfall and mountains, with receding peaks rising out of the mists below and fading into the distance in Chinese aerial perspective.
The plaque has a colophon and mark in caoshu script with two small seal marks. The plaque is mounted in an original, Chinese, hongmu frame with original bronze hangers and a removable back. Circa Republic of China era.
colophon: The four large characters on the right are "Jiang Nan Xiu Se" (Beautiful Scenery of Jiangnan).
The smaller characters at the left are "Geng Wei Nian, Zhong Chun Yue, Li Yu Zhu Zhan" (Inscribed at Zhushan in the mid-spring month of the Gengwei year).
Gengwei year: 1942.
