There is a vague square on the bottom with Oriental markings in it. Too dim for me to describe or get a very good picture of. Therefore I am unable to determine whether this is a true antique or whether it is from the mid-1900s when some were manufactured in China and imported to the U. S. It is a fully reticulated porcelain ginger jar, provided with a factory-drilled hole in the bottom it can easily be converted to a lamp, and many of these have been. It is a stunning piece for any collector or lover of Chinese culture. The intricate design and attention to detail make it a unique addition to any collection. The lid is still present, although many of these jars have by now have lost theirs. It has been repaired but is still quite functional. This Oriental jar is a great example of the beauty and elegance of Chinese craftsmanship.
I got a new undamaged wooden base and replaced the original broken and repaired one. See less
