A beautiful and RARE example of mid‑century Italian artistry! Attributed to the renowned Fratelli ("Brothers") Fanciullacci workshop of Montelupo, Italy, this piece reflects the vibrant creativity of Italy’s studio pottery movement, widely exported in the 1950s and 1960s
This tall, hand‑glazed ceramic vase features stylized women in draped robes with applied floral details and hair styles executed in low relief against a richly speckled, sea-green/teal-colored background. The women are in mottled, white glaze with black sgraffito. The underside bears the hand‑inscribed model number 5393 Italy, consistent with known production markings from this sought‑after studio.
Before moving to Bitossi in 1935, famed designer Aldo Londi worked for Fanciullacci. This vase embodies the same collectible design pedigree and handmade craftsmanship of Bitossi, Gambone and other highly regarded studios of the time. A major find for collectors and a statement piece for a console, mantel, table or curated art pottery collection.
