A good looking well made and utilitarian pair, they can sit in just about any room of the house and be useful, the timber patina is rich and heavily burred
These pieces have the "Butlers Slip Serving Trays" as mentioned, these are basically a shelf that slides out from top, historically they would have been fitted to larger pieces of furniture in a sitting or library area, your "Butler" would then serve drinks and snacks to the shelves to protect the tops of the units, on smaller pieces like this they can be used for the same function, also to keep you small personal affects on like jewellery and watches

Condition wise we have deep cleaned, hand condition waxed and hand polished them from top to bottom, there may be age and use related patina marks here and there from honest age and use but to my eyes and hands they look lovely
