Japanese landscape scroll, a finely drawn and detailed mountain landscape in colored inks on silk, mounted on shimmering, varied light … Read more Japanese landscape scroll, a finely drawn and detailed mountain landscape in colored inks on silk, mounted on shimmering, varied light golds, silk brocade in a rippling clouds pattern, with an ichimonji, above and below the image, in a shimmering, light gold and ecru brocade in a floral diamonds lattice pattern. A signature, in black sosho script, is on the upper left, with one red seal mark. The scroll has a white and black braided, flat cord, makio and kakeo at the top and dark mahogany jikusaki at the bottom. Circa Meiji era.

The image size is 16.5" wide x 50" high.

In the left foreground a small grove of trees leads to a small foot bridge connecting the rocky, forested, shores of a mountain lake, with hermitages higher up, while forested palisades soar into the heavens and recede in aerial perspective. See less
