A period Gustavian bench in beautiful, largely unrestored condition. This piece features the hallmark details of Gustavian design: muted colors, carved rosettes, and neoclassical symmetry—all inspired by the refined elegance of Louis XVI–era French furniture, but interpreted through a Swedish lens with simpler, more restrained lines.
The painted surface shows an appealing, timeworn patina. The seat has been replaced with a heavy board (likely not original), thinly upholstered, currently stapled in place. The removable seat lifts to reveal hidden interior storage, making this both a decorative and practical piece.
Solid and sturdy throughout. With updated upholstery, this would make a stunning addition to an entryway, bedroom, or dining area.
