Exquisite Large German Porcelain Horse & Carriage – Scheibe-Alsbach Rococo Coach (Model 11994)
Designed by Felix Zeh, Early 20th Century – Measures an Impressive 47cm in Length
This magnificent and rare large-format Scheibe-Alsbach porcelain sculpture captures the elegance and grandeur of a bygone era. Model No. 11994, it was designed in the early 20th century by celebrated artist Felix Zeh (1869–1937) and is a stunning example of German Rococo revival porcelain from the 1920s.
Meticulously hand-painted in polychrome tones and enriched with ornamental gilding, this opulent piece depicts a horse-drawn coach complete with intricate period detail. Two white porcelain horses, finely modelled and harnessed in deep red and gold, draw the ornate carriage, which features a noble coachman in traditional garb and a graceful Rococo lady stepping elegantly from the doorway. The coach’s roof is topped with a pair of gilded embracing putti and decorated with antique-style medallions, showcasing Scheibe-Alsbach’s exceptional attention to artistry and craftsmanship.
At an impressive 47cm in length, this is the larger and more sought-after version of this design—ideal for collectors and statement displays.
Produced by Scheibe-Alsbach, one of Germany’s most distinguished porcelain manufactories based in Thuringia, the piece exemplifies the house’s tradition of excellence, rooted in 18th-century craftsmanship and refined through the artistry of renowned sculptors like Felix Zeh.
